A Christmas message

Rev. Ian Smith, Senior Minister.

Nobody likes missing out on something - but what about the greatest gift there is – you wouldn’t want to miss out surely – but so many do.
They missed Him! They were looking for a Lion, He came as a Lamb and they missed Him.
They were looking for a warrior, He came as a peacemaker and they missed Him.
They were looking for a King, He came as a servant and they missed Him.
They were looking for liberation from Rome, He chose to die on a Roman Cross and they missed Him.
They were looking for someone to fit their mould, He broke the mould and they missed Him.
He wasn’t what they were looking for but He went on to change the world! The hinge of history is found on the door of a Bethlehem stable.
What will you do this Christmas?
Don’t miss Him
The greatest gift is that you can know God – surely that’s the defining truth of life for now and for eternity. At Christmas you’ll hear the name Immanuel – it means ‘God with us.’ What a great promise!
Don’t miss Him this Christmas time. At Christmas we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ ‘The Light of the World’. Then, like now, so many missed Him. Don’t let that be you.
The Bible says God looks for you – He came to seek and save the lost.
Don’t exchange presents for presence.
Immanuel – God with us – with you – do you know that?
You need to know God – know Jesus – know His love and forgiveness – He sets you free to know life in all its fullness.
Don’t miss Him – ask about our Alpha Course (, Alpha means beginning.
This year start a new beginning with God.
